Education

OMAC Performance is an Enhanced Performance Psychology consultancy business operated by Oisin MacManus. Oisin is a current PhD Researcher at Ulster University in the field of sport psychology, having previously completed an undergraduate degree in Psychology for Queen’s University Belfast, and a masters degree in Sport and Exercise Psychology from Ulster University. Oisin is a graduate member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES).

Oisin is currently completing his professional accreditation with BASES under the SEPAR programme where he is operating as a Sport and Exericse Psychologist in Training (SEPiT).

Building on this educational background, OMAC Performance has delivered performance psychology strategies to numerous athletes, pupils, teams and schools across Ireland and the UK. Some of the sports that Oisin has worked with include Gaelic Games, Rugby, Golf, Karate, Irish Dancing, Equestrian, working with individuals in these sports with playing levels ranging from amateur/recreational athletes to professional, international and world championship level. Oisin has also delivered workshops and sessions to students and teachers within primary and secondary level education, most notably working as Life Coach with St Patrick’s Grammar School Downpatrick. In this role, Oisin works closely with students to apply performance psychology strategies to help support them through exam pressures, confidence issues or feelings of stress and anxiety.

Sports Coaching

Along with his academic studies and performance psychology work, Oisin has extensive experience working within sports coaching, specifically Gaelic Games (Hurling, Camogie, Handball and Gaelic Football). Having worked with Ulster GAA as a Schools Coach and Regional Hurling Development Officer, he has worked with teams and athletes across all levels of participation. Within his coaching, Oisin has been part of winning teams such as the 2022 All Ireland Club Camogie Intermediate Champions, Clonduff.

Oisin has recently qualified as a Hypnotherapist through the National Hypnotherapy Society and is currently studying to become a Counsellor through the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society.

TEDx Downpatrick

Oisin recently presented at TEDx Downpatrick where he spoke about ‘Life Lessons from the Sporting Field’, how things he has seen and used as a player and coach in high performance sport can be applied to daily life.
